Unveiling plaque for 100 Squadron Lancaster in Westbeemster

A beautiful still and clear evening in Westbeemster last night marked the unveiling of a plaque commemorating seven British and Commonwealth airmen from the 100 Squadron. The airmen lost their lives on 26 June 1943 when their Lancaster bomber crashed on the outskirts of the town. New Zealander, Flight Sergeant Lawrence Porritt of the RNZAF was on board. The plaque was unveiled by his second cousin, Jonathan Porritt. We also laid a wreath on behalf of the Government and people of New Zealand.
We will remember them.
